International Cooperation:
The team has established long-term cooperative relations with research teams related to melon genomics and genetics of Spain, the United States, France, Germany and Israel.
Representative Achievements:
1.The breeding of high-quality melon cultivars
The team has bred 43 melon varieties, such as 'Zhong Tian No.1', 'Zhong Tian Chui Yu' and 'Zhong Tian No.9', which have passed the national certification or new variety registration, of which nine varieties have been granted new plant variety rights.
2.Accurate identification of melon germplasm resources
The team has completed the phenotype and genotype identification of more than 1000 melon germplasm, constructed the first genome-wide variation map of melon, systematically explained the complex domestication history of melon, and proposed the new idea of "three independent domestication". Two hundreds and eight genetic loci or genes related to 16 important traits of melon were identified by GWAS.
